Age and accumulated hours must be considered together. A low-hour older standby unit can differ materially from a newer machine with sustained loaded operation. Sound-attenuated enclosures, weather housings, UL-listed sub-base tanks, transfer switches, paralleling switchgear, annunciators, controls, radiators, silencers, breakers, and cabling can materially change the value of a complete power package.
Logistics and payment
Demand changes by region, season, emissions rules, application, and project timing. Net value also depends on whether the unit is accessible at grade or requires basement, rooftop, crane, wall-removal, or heavy-haul work.

No. A faulty or obsolete control panel affects value, but the engine, alternator, completeness, serviceability, and availability of replacement controls may preserve a meaningful resale market.
Photograph the manufacturer data tags on the generator skid, engine block, alternator housing, control panel, enclosure, and fuel tank.
Outdoor storage does not automatically eliminate value. Enclosure condition, water intrusion, corrosion, completeness, engine condition, and storage history are reviewed.
